As you know, I do love my Knick knacks. They are all over my house. I have always loved them and enjoy putting them on display. That is especially true with family pieces. I love the history of things, be it significant or incidental. This chalkware bird, I believe it's a cardinal of some kind, belonged to Aunt Billie. In her home, her den was made out of knotty pine. While that is not to everyone's taste, I absolutely love it. Especially in a den. Her den was an addition to her home sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. She also had her kitchen redone at the time, so it was filled with the same knotty pine. Anyway, this bird sat in one of the large built-in bookcases in her den. It was just something she had picked up along the way. Eventually, it went to live at Grandmother's house, also in one of her built-in bookcases. Now it has come to me. It's a beautiful little bird and I love it. I have not found the exact place I want to display it, but that will come in time. It just makes me smile.
