This week, I had to throw out my slippers. It was a sad moment as I do not have a backup pair. I will definitely add that to my list of things that I need! This is something that I share with my Mom and Grandmother, my love for having just the right pair of slippers. Sometimes they are referred to as house shoes or house slippers or bedroom shoes. But they always had a pair but unlike me, they always had a new pair ready to go before the old ones gave out. Smart women!
Mom always wore the kind of slippers that were flip flop. They were comfortable and easy to get into, which in her later years became a very key ingredient to successful slippers. I wonder if they still make that style? I'm sure they do. Like I said, I have not been shopping for them in a long time. Grandmother always wore the more traditional slippers. However, they had to be open toed. That was a definite must. And let me tell you, those became harder and harder to find as the years when on. Eventually, she did buy slippers that were not open toed because, plainly, she had no other choice. But it vexed her.
Now, I need to begin looking for some new bedroom shoes. It's part of my morning ritual to put on my slippers and go about my morning routine. You know how I do love a good routine LOL But there is something comfortable and familiar with slippers that I enjoy having be a part of my day. Of course, finding some online would be the easiest option. I wonder if shoe stores even sell bedroom slippers anymore. Or can you find them in the clothing departments of box stores? I don't know because I haven't looked yet. Michael bought me this last pair, and they have lasted 6 or 7 years so it was definitely money well spent.
All I know is my mornings feel quite different without my slippers. And I need to fix that. It's only been 2 days, but I can tell a difference. That is all.
