Around the House - The Daffodil Plate

It is no secret that I love yellow flowers.  It is my absolute favorite color of bloom there is.  And, honestly, it does not matter to me what kind of flower it is if it's yellow. I love yellow roses and yellow irises. So it is a given that I love daffodils.  I think they are just beautiful and a lovely sign of spring to me. When I go antiquing, I am always on the lookout for pieces decorated with yellow flowers.  I have lucked out several times and gotten some beautiful pieces at good prices.  This plate I found on one of my trips to Twin Deer Antiques in High Point.

I saw it and was immediately drawn to it.  But yellow flowers are not on my antiques bucket list, so they become subject to antiques shopping routine.  If I have not discussed this before, when I go to an antiques store I will walk around the entire store before putting anything in my basket. That way, at least in my mind, if something catches my eye and it is still there on my second spin around the store then I can take it home with me. I don't always buy the pieces even if they are still there, but that's my rule.  And that is what happened with this hand painted German plate. I believe I paid $15 for it and I think it's simply beautiful.  I have had it in several places around the house but right now it's on a table in my den.

If you see something you like and it makes you happy, then treat yourself.  It's good for the soul.
